the
Critique
Panel

The Critique Panel is a permanent space of reflection and interdisciplinary research, organic to Altofest, connecting different perspectives and heterogeneous competencies in order to give a plural and multi-perspective look at the festival, at the aesthetic processes, and at the participatory dynamics that Altofest activates.
Its activities rely on the observations of critics, operators, artists, researchers and curators. Several interventions by the OCr offer the artists and audience of the festival tools and participatory paths into arts.
The activities in 2018 (journal, short talks, Table of Matters, Written City, Visual Mapping) are curated by Silvia Mei, Salvatore Margiotta, Mimma Valentino, Loretta Mesiti, Meike Gleim, Federica Terracina.
Short Talks
After each performance, the Critique Panel will open short discussions between artists, citizens and space donors.
Table of Matters
The Social Kitchen hosts the Table of Matters, a process of analysis and discussion that generates opportunities for debate between artists and members of the Critique Panel; it elaborates and traces a map of all the aesthetic questions that rise up during all the activities in the program.
The Table of Matters is curated by Loretta Mesiti in dialogue with Meike Gleim. Interventions by Silvia Mei, Salvatore Margiotta, Mimma Valentino. Visual mapping by Federica Terracina.
The written city.
Places for everyday life and spaces for the possible.
Itinerary for critical observation and writing addressed to students of High school.
in collaboration with the prof. Mariella De Simone, Liceo Vittorio Emanuele
The critical observation and writing workshop, by Loretta Mesiti, “dramaturg” and member of Altofest Critique Panel, will accompany a small group of students from Vittorio Emanuele High School in Naples through the festival with an itinerary that will explore poetics and aesthetics of the space that characterizes contemporary artistic practices.
The starting point being the topic that leads Altofest 2018, Wordsmatter / Leparolesonoimportanti, we will reflect with the students on the importance of words in the definition of urban spaces and on the different ways to inhabit a space; we will imagine possibilities by questioning the poetic mechanisms activated during the process of artistic creation.
