by Elisabetta di Terlizzi and Francesco Manenti – Progetto BROCKENHAUS
September 8-14, 2014
The first part of the workshop is based on the technical study of movement through a dynamic training, composed by exercises relating fundamental elements to enhance body functions. The aim of the workshop is developing and increasing your own movement consciousness: how to use the burden of body, and the sense of breathing; how to develop the flexibility and mobility of the articulations; in order to investigate a more natural body presence; increasing the sense of musicality and rhythm of movement in relation to space in which the movement itself is built.
During the second part we will work on the presence of the body investigating the relation between the inner and the outer space, between body and time.
We will start from structured exercises and from the basic movements of everyday life (walk, run, turn, sit, get up, roll over) to enter the free improvisation phase.

Progetto Brockenhaus is based in Lugano, Switzerland, and came about as a meeting of souls in 2008. The group, composed by six Italian and one Swiss artist) shares the desire to create a new approach to physical theatre (a “theatre of movement”), exploring the use of the body in a free and spontaneous way, without seeking to restrict the work to any one particular style. The six are Elisa Canessa, Federico Dimitri, Elisabetta di Terlizzi, Piera Gianotti, Francesco Manenti and Emanuel Rosenberg. They come from backgrounds in physical theatre, contemporary dance, circus, martial arts and street performance. As individuals they have worked with companies such as Sosta Palmizi (with choreographer Giorgio Rossi), Pantakin da Venezia, Teatro Kismet (with director Teresa Ludovico), Habillé d’Eau and Compagnia Enzo Cosimi, as well as being authors of their own creative projects. The work typically integrates different theatrical languages, but is primarily movement, gesture and image based. Francesco Manenti is also a graphic artist and painter. The company has created 3 original productions which they have performed at festivals and on tour in Switzerland and Italy, both in theatres and as site specific work: Non facciamone una tragedia (Don’t Make a Drama Out of It); La Menta sul Pavimento ( Lament) and SAGRA. Progetto Brockenhaus are delighted to be working as associate artists of Sosta Palmizi.
